Help! First time building balsa surfboard.

I’m not sure where I’m going to build my board at, most likely my backyard, if not I can petition to work on it at my current school at Helix Charter High.

I'm confused.   If it's a senior project, for your school, why would it not be built at the school?

It’s because it’s on peoples own time, and I believe my school knocked out the wood workshop and made it a computer lab. =/

That is a lot less than I expected… What size was that board?

I want to make a wood board if I get time somewhere, but I will not be able to afford balsa. The fact that the solid balsa board is 40lb, and the ideal weight I was thinking of for a chambered cedar was around 25lb, with 30lb being acceptable, this gives me some hope. Please tell be it was a 10ft longboard, lol…

Is it possible for a fella here to be my consultant for two weeks minimum (ideal one week) to help me on building the board? That would be great since there’s a few builders here very close or live in San Diego, California. Sorry If this is asking too much from you guys but you’re the only people I know who builds surfboards here!

I will be happy to help and supply you with the balsa and all accessories. Im also looking for a distributor to handle a 20ft container. Check out
