Oh great experts of Swaylock’s, I’m screwed. I’m finishing up a fix on a broken board and ready to gloss. My gloss is gelled. Why the hell don’t they come up with a better way to contain these resins? It’s only a few months old. Damn.
If anybody responds that I should’ve checked my resin before this weekend, I’ll kill you and myself. I was even in Foam E-Z today getting polish. Crap!
The surfboard supply places don’t open 'till Monday. I want this thing finished because I’m going to Baja on Friday.
I think I read here before that gloss resin is just sanding resin with more styrene in it. Is that true? If you’re not sure, don’t reply.
I’ve got styrene. How much would I need?
Yah, I could search the archives but I’ve got to get back to my resin pinlines that I was working on when I decided to shake my gloss and noticed it was gelled.
As an alternative plan, is there anybody in West Orange County that would sell me gloss that’s not gelled.
Sanding resin will be fine. It will polish up as good as gloss. You can add some styrene if you want. About 5 percent will thin it down enough. platty.
I might have to wait no matter what. I think under dosed my pinline resin. If it doesn’t set, I’ll have to redo it anyway which screws up my schedule.
I’m in good shape. I was a little fixated on getting it done a few days before the trip so it had time to cure. It dawned on me the the glass needs a few days to cure, not the gloss. I need gloss for another project so I’ll just pick some up and gloss it Monday, then sand and polish Tuesday.
I’m still pissed that I’m always having trouble with resin caps sticking and resin not living very long once opened. I’m pretty religious about cleaning the can threads but I still get trouble.
I’ve come down and accepted the set back. I’m over it but the tips are good ones anyway.
