Help me place this strange craft

Its a 5’2" Shoe N knee board?

I found it abandoned under the Bogue Inlet pier Emerald Isle NC in 1979 when I was 9.

Both the nose and tail were busted off and it was missing one fin. My uncle patched it up with bondo, filled the delam

areas with silicon filed down a spare fin he had and I had myself my first surfboard. For some reason I hung on to it for 32 years.

Ive never been able to find out where they were made or who made them. Its a long shot but I figured this was a good place to ask

since I’ve read so much shaper/builder history here. Thanks in advance.

There was a post about those not so long ago; here’s the link:

That, sir, is a Newport Paipo Shoe. They were made circa 1974 as a combination surfboard and kneeboard ( hence the dished deck, etc) . http://www.broslist.com/Listing/648158652690/Shoe_by_Newport_Paipo/ has another one plus some pretty good information,

They were not the worst kneeboard ever built, the 5'4" El Paipos of similar vintage were far worse.

Hope that's of use

doc...

So much for it being a long shot. You guys really know your stuff.

Thanks.
