Help needed. Resin sticking to gloves and making big mess while glassing fins.

Anyone got advice for keeping cloth from falling apart while glassing fins?  The gloves get all sticky with resin and then the moment I pick up the cloth to lam, strands start pulling off and it just gets worse from there.  Same probem with the fin rope.  Strands of rope get stuck to my gloves and make a big mess.  I’m going slow and careful so there’s got to be something I’m missing.  I’ve read a ton of posts on glassing fins, but I haven’t found any solutions.  Thanks for any help provided!

best tip i read was to wear two or three pairs of gloves, when one gets gunked up, whip it off and you're still good to go

It sounds like you're grabbing dry cloth with resin wet gloves. Lay your cloth for fin layups on a flat surface, slightly overlapping them and wet them out there (I use the bottom of the board and squeegee excess resin off after). Take the wetted out cloth and lay it up against the fins and squeegee the excess out. Someone posted a video of the process on here not too long ago that might help.

Get a cheap 2-3 in brush and cut the bristles down so that they are stiffer

Just use a natural bristle artist brush. I keep a few around just for fin fillets. The only time I use my hand is to apply a little bit-o-resin to get any bubbles out.   If you are talking about the foot ball patches running up the side of the fin and out on the flats?  Then just use your squeegee...then use the little paint brush.  Gloves, you don't need no stinking gloves?!!

Thanks for the advice gentlemen.  I’ll take everything into consideration on the next project.  Now I have to find a way to make more money so I can buy more blanks, cloth and resin!  I used to look at boards in the shops or at the beach and think, oooh I want that.  Now I look and think, ooh I’d like to build that.
