i am looking to make something along the same lines and have been playing with AKU shaper. My thought on the tail would be to do more of a rounded pin instead of the tight pin. I just have had more luck pulling the tails in at the hips but keeping the tail block a bit fuller, to keep a straighter rail in the last 6 inches. Tight pins are fast and fun on singles, but i would assume you are going thruster. I also like a little more width forward than you have showing to get the added paddle speed to get in sooner or down the face if its off shore. You can also just keep thickness under your chest instead of adding width. looks like a solid step up board.
Yeah, I like that tail more and the width seems to be placed a bit further forward for speed. The blue dots will pull the outline literally where you want the outline to go, while the yellow and red will pull the girth, and average it out. You may even want to try pulling the red dot on the wide point a bit further forward to get a straighter rail. Straight lines are fast (flat rocker/parallel rails), cruved lines turn(rocker/rails). I know the pros equiptment isnt the right choice for the mortals, but I read a one page article in surfer about what kelly slater was using on bigger waves in 2009, and it was basically the template of a 7’2" bigger wave board, chopped down to 6’8" and with a nose that fit. Looked a bit abnormal, but it gets the control without the length. Just a thought.
i was going off Bill Thrailkill's post where for nose rocker he said. Not more than 4 1/2'' or less than 3 1/2''
this is the first time shaping one of these so i'm just trying to find something that will work. i used to own a 7'. that i really liked but i never thought of taking the details down.
