Help with my first baby

Hey all.

Been lurking for quite some time, a little bit of contributing then some more lurking! But having moved to NZ and with winter and the rain around the corner, thought it time to turn fantasy into reality and make my first board. Am hoping you will be able to give me some direction on the type of board I should be looking at.

Firstly some info. Currently have a 9'1 performance longboard, 6'2 glide fish (Jim Banks) and 6'10 thruster (Phil Byrne). Love everyone of these boards in the right conditions.

Me I am 6'3, 97kgs, office worker fit. The board I am thinking is for 1-3ft beach break type waves. Want it to be cruisy, sort of the whole Endless Summer feeling if that makes any sense. Am thinking of maybe an old school mal, easy paddling that thought of thing.

To date the longest blank I can source is 9'9

I am not locked into any particular type of board at moment, just really getting info, looked at a lot of archive stuff as well. It is my first board so simple rather than complex seems a good idea:)

All opinions welcomed!

Thanks

Brenden

Make yourself an egg brenden. Wide round nose, forward widepoint, round tail, flat rocker. One fin, flat bottom. 7'6 - 8'0.

I'll second that.

what are the dim’s of that Huck?

7-4 x 21 x 2 5/8", rocker about 5" nose and 2 1/2" tail IIRC, flat bottom, a really easy board to ride.  This one is a hws that sprung a leak, it needs a bit of remedial work, I really love the size and shape, so its on the roster for some attention coming up!

What type of conditions do you ride it in?

mostly so. cal. point break surf, occasional beach break

Yeah I thought they were more for point break than beach break? Nice looking board:
