I have a Lost S-Core and I am having trouble with the pressure release valve. After a few years my original valve wouldnt open so I got a replacement from Lost and had it epoxied in. Now only a few short months later the valve isnt opening and the whole thing just spins around when I try.
My question is twofold:
1- Do I need to keep opening the valve to release pressure or is this just to drain water??..I was told I needed to open the valve every week or so to keep the board flexible. If this is not the case I guess I can continue to use the board without opening the valve.
2- Is there another way to keep outer valve piece in place so I dont have trouble in the future when I ask the shop to epoxy it in again.
Put in a Gore-tex vent from Foam-EZ; no opening or closing. If you ding the board and need to drain it, you just unscrew the vent. The retro-fit style will work, but the original valve will have to be removed and the hole modified.
Yeah I read about the gore-tex vent on here prior to commenting. So does that mean the original valve does need to be unscrewed periodically to release pressure?
You remove the original valve and toss it. Modify the hole and put in the new one and forget it’s there. If you’re not going to do this yourself, get the vent and install instructions from Foam EZ and take both to a glass shop.
