The biodegradable eps I used is made by an japanese company called “Kanebo” according to them this eps is going to turn to soil in six months if burried. And they say most of it is made out corn.
But they only had 3cm thick sheets so I had to bond three sheets together before cutting out the blank.
If you’re in the US I heard it’s available. But expect it to be expensive.
But if more and more people use it wouldn’t that help hold down the prices?
I’m interested in eco construction myself, but your right that stuff does not come cheap, prob because its more labour intensive to produce. I was wondering if if was possible to get a mat weave made from coconut fibers and how this would work.
Chisp - I’m not sure I should betray a deeper knowlege as you’ve alread threatend yo call the cops. but hemp is mabe the fibres of the plant and is a different strain from your smoking varierty, it is used to make cloth (hippy cloths), rope, in plumbing, in fishinf and bank notes! think about that next time you spark up.
Sorry to break it to you but you can’t get high from burning it, but it does smell pritty nasty but more in a burning hair way that an psychodelic way.
No I have not tried thius but then I’ve never been that desprate.
I love the idea for an eco board but I think those leave are a bit dumb and aimed at a certain market, and a bit imature/obviouse for a logo if you asked me.
hi again, checked out the ecolution website… pretty cool stuff. I’m looking for lighter weaves though - maybe closer to 2-4 oz/yd2 would be best.
How is the surf in Chiba? I live up north in Aomori-ken… the swell has been pumping all week… it’s like typhoon season never ended!
For those perimeter rails you mentioned earlier… Sanwado and/or Sundays stocks a real nice 0.15mm plastic sheet or rolls, if you wanted to make your own vacuum bag. If that’s something you’re interested in, let me know, you can have my old fridge comp/vac with quick-connect fittings… it’s not fast, but it does the job.
I’m stoked to hear about the Kanebo EPS. This is where I’ve been buying mine… http://www.eps-shibahara.co.jp/index.htm from what I can tell, it seems that either 23% or 58% of the foam is recycled.
