Herb, I would like to discuss the possibility of having you duplicate a board I have for me. (With a few modifications to make it more user friendly.) It is a limited edition of a great old shape from the sixties, but with the new foams and glass, it can’t be knee paddled without putting dents in the deck. After just three sessions in the water with very little knee paddling, there’s evidence of dents appearing. I don’t want to destroy the board’s limited edition value down the road, but at my age don’t want to have to belly paddle all the time. It’s a lot tougher on the old body. When Ray saw this board, it sparked some interest as well! Thanks, Old Longboarder aka: Neighbor Art
We’ll take a look see, should be able to copy it. It will depend greatly on the fitting(blank to board ratio).I’ll give Ray a call tommorrow to get more details.,Aloha,Herb.
Great! Uncle Sam and Govenor Davis are both sending me some refund monies soon. Can’t think of a better way to get rid of it than buying a board I like to ride. Added a noserider to the collection so I’d have a board I wasn’t afraid of damaging, but even at this beginning stage of starting to surf again, it’s easy to tell just not the same as my old time favorite board from yesteryear. Aloha, Old Longboarder

I spoke with Ray yesterday as well…, I suppose you know by now of the design. My original board in the sixties was shaped/built by Larry McElehenny. (Ray says you guys remember him.) Ray has all the confidence in the world in your abilities. That’s good enough for me! Mahalo, ho’ omaika’i, (Thanks) Old Longboarder
Mahalo, ho’ omaika’i, (Thanks) Old Longboarder…Mr. Surf Design in Naples,I owned one of his boards back in early 70s too! He was ahead of his time , I see things in modern boards he was doing back then.I believe he moved to Maui shortly after the shop closed. … Be more than happy to build a stick for you, will see what I can do about getting over there soon, schedules and all. Mean while go get some waves while we have this break in the rain.I’ll be finishing off some boards and watching the kids tonight. One more eye doc. appt. tommorrow and it should be over for now anyway. You can E-mail me thru the BOARD PAGE,many Mahalos,Herb.
