Herb, I got the pu coating finally....

Herb, I got the pu coating. The ratio is about 3:1. I called the manufacturer to confirm the specification and usage. The guy told me the mixing ratio and some instructions. BTW, are there any hints for using this stuff? I m totally nut about this. Thanks for your attention. Regards, Crabie

Thanks for your attention.>>> Regards,>>> Crabie …a dustfree enviroment, and a clean sprayer/brush helps. No air current(dead calm). After it sets-up you can stick it in the sun or run alittle air over it to speed up the drying process.Don’t put it in the water until it is completely dry.Herb …Also before you apply it make sure you get all the oily residue off the surface of the board.USE some steel wool or a scrunge pad. When I was looking for my other half of a glassing rack ,I found a scrunge pad(s)made out of steel wool.It works great!Herb

Thanks Herb, Sounds like the same procedure of resin gloss coat~~… I 'll try it in the weekend~… Did you try to glass the e-fabric with this stuff? Thanks Herb,>>> Sounds like the same procedure of resin gloss coat~~… I 'll try it in > the weekend~… Did you try to glass the e-fabric with this stuff?>>> Regards,>>> Crabie …Crabie,I did do some laminating with urethane, but the problem with it, is it has better memory than the foams,so when you pressure ding the board, the lam pops back out causing delamination.I’m sure where there is a will, there is a way.Herb

What core/coating is Tom Morey using on the Swizzle? It’s a flexible coating that seems to resist pressure dents. The foam and coating memory seem pretty compatible.

does something stink or something??? PU??? lol…someone had to do it. sorry http://www.surfresearch.com.au/f.html

I’m not too jazzed on the shape - just found the material intriguing. I could push my thumb into it and it bounced right back. A conventional board would have dented.

John, Tom is using U.V. cured Revolastic Polyester over 100% memory Polyproplene foam, choice of glass?? unidirectional carbon fiber strip over redwood stringers. Imagine your favorite, conventional shape built using the same materials… http://www.starwaves.com/ or email him directly: Dale

Thanks for the info. The Swizzle I saw looked like it had a wide balsa(?) stringer scarfed in several places… When contacting him, is he using his new name (Y) or ???
