Hey Ben. Happy birthday. I did’nt read all the posts on the “new years shapes” thread. Just went to the end and posted. To tired to read last night. Wow 44 almost as old as me. How is the longboard going. At 44 plus years you will need it soon.platty.
thanks mate !
It’s on hold…until my other blank [the 6’9 ] is shaped…into a 6’4 - 6’8 THREE fin bonzer. My curiousity will not be satisfied until I make and ride one !!
Stringerless polyurethane blank, epoxy resin, a tint…
On the mal topic still, Hicksy will be thinning and shaping the OTHER 9’ 11 " windsurfer blank into a mal in the near future…
[I’m hoping , watching him glass HIS with epoxy, to get a few pointers ! ]
ben
p.s. - are you getting any waves in YOUR neck of the woods, Dave ?
[ It’s almost totally flat here, at the moment. STILL ! ]
Hey Ben. We have only had three days in the last three weeks that has been overhead. Macs point was the spot. A five minute drive from home. One of our two local beaches. It was crowded with Christmas crowds. But plenty of waves to be had. Our other local beach Killcare has some good banks, but is only handling waves under three foot. Anything over three foot and it turns into the “Killy Crunch” It faces due South and cops it straight on. Many a board has been snapped there.platty.
if Ryven * Grant still surfs, ‘Killcare’ is where he was from, when I went to school with him. He surfed macs point ALL the time, he told me !
‘seapig’ was what they called him . [even in 1977 when I met him, he WAS a little…shall we say…‘chubby’ ?..maybe he rides a mal nowadays ?! ]
If you or any of the other Gosford boys there see him, tell him ben chipper from year 11 and 12 high school days at Bathurst says g’day, please Platty ? Thanks mate !!
… I often wonder what ‘Ryvo’ is up to nowadays…
cheers !
ben
- that’s pronounced riven, [as in ‘river’]
Dave, in reply to the mal question…
…update…
Mal blank #2 : -
‘Hicksy’ is thinning out the other blank tonight.
He’ll be shaping foam !! …for the first time in how many years did you say, Grant ??
…should be pretty lush in terms of how quickly he shapes it , compared to the time taken to do one of his hollow wood boards !
good night for now…
