Hey Herb! New Red X Goodies...

The last couple of of weeks we have made a bunch of progress. We have just completed the Bonzer Fins and 70% done with a new Taylor Knox fin template. Malcomb Campbell will be putting together a Bonzer Installation procedure when he returns to work next week. We will make them available to all shapers interested in experimenting with them. The new template has a 4-1/2" Base and 4-3/4" Depth. It’s similar in foil to the X-3. But the rake is much more vertical. We are also experimenting with the Carbon filled Nylon formulation and are getting lighter stiffer fins. I know you like our glass filled fins better. But, some people gotta save every fraction of an ounce they can. The down side is you give up shear strength compared to Glass filled and they cost more. Larry is also meeting with Guy Takyama about some new experimental longboard fins and Rick Hammond on a 5 fin setup. Stop by next time you’re making a Basham’s run. Lots of good stuff going on!

…Thanks Tom,Will get together with you soon!Sounds like things are going for Red-X.I SEE MORE AND MORE Red-X fin systems in boards around here. …I have really been into the X-1 sides with a X-7 center, and on tiny days I use the longboard sidebites with either the mini trailer fin or the X-1 center fin.Looking forward to building a Bonzer with the new Red-X fins,it should be a gas! …No sh*t,this system is the toughest, trouble free fin system I’ve ever used,WITH GREAT SURFING QUALITIES,and will continue to promote it. …The main thing I would like to emphasize is that you/your glasser install extra patches on the deck and use the rubber bumper covers. This makes this system just south of bulletproof.Herb

Tom, I think it’s really cool watching Red-X flourish. they’re showing up in some of the local shapes and I see them in the surf shops more and more and think “hey, I kinda, sorta but really don’t know that guy, neat!”. I remember when you first came around about what 1 or 2 yrs ago. something about fixing a toe amputation problem comes to mind. I just wanted to say it’s cool watching your project taking off. wish you much success and thanks for your posts here I’ve learned a fair bit from them.
