Hey kokua

what do you kick your gloss coats off at? lets say per qt of resin how much catalyst would you use? thanks austin oh room temp 70-75 degrees. thanks again

1 cc to 1 oz.

Howzit Austin, A quart is a lot of gloss resin and the most I ever shoot at a time would be 20 oz. For that much I use 25cc’s of catalyst, but remember I also add styrene and some S.A. and these tend to slow the kick time. Temperture wise it’s usually about 80 degrees when I do my glossing. I try to gloss between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to keep the bugs from messing things up. One swaylock tip that has been very useful is the addition of a little S.A. to the mix. Just goes to show you can always learn new tricks. Aloha, Kokua

will too much wax take some of the gloss out of it? adding say about 2%?

Howzit Teddy,I just give it a couple of good squirts (not an exact amount) and I’ve had no problems. Shot 2 glosses yesterday and they came out great, what I like about the S.A. is the gloss smoothes out real nice. Good luck,Aloha, Kokua

I second Kokua’s motion.(been watching court TV)…anyway I tend to think that a lot of the problems in glossing aren’t so much the mix but more like how you apply it.We really got into this a few months ago.Maybe you can archive it. R.B.
