hey ventura people!

Hey Ventura People! Saturday and Sunday at C-Street the
Best Day Foundation will be taking a group of kids with disabilities
surfing. Best Day is the sister organization to Santa Cruz’s Ride-A-Wave
Foundation. No kid, no matter how disabled, should miss out on the fun
at the beach. Not only is it huge for the kids- the parents of the
participants get to see their kids being kids. So excellent! I strongly
suggest you head down there and volunteer. You will love it.

I am usually a "no show"; but I am considering Sunday.  If i do I will bring a 9'0 softtop, which would be good under the circumstance.  Are you going to be in the South lot(free parking)?

I am not sure where they are setting up. They have the Ride-A-Wave trailer there with 20 11’ rescue boards there for the tandem escorts to use. Be sure to check out the 15’ Tandem boards Bob Pearson made for Ride A Wave. Especially cool is the “chair board” a 15’ with a go cart chair bolted to the deck. The kids with CP and other severe disabilities get to ride like kings. Amazing.

Check out the slide shows on the RIde A Wave site www.rideawave.org

wonderful program- go check it out

Sh$%! Just heard of this. Was chasing the south swell earlier. I'll head down now and see if it's still going on.

Didn't make it, I had so little time that day, and hadn't been surfing in such a long time - I braved the triathelon crowd and went out at south jetty for a few before it got blown out.  Hope you guys had a great day - love the photo!

Just saw this, but what an absolutely great thing. Reminds me of an article I saw about vetsgetting in the water for surfing therapy. One guy has to take morphine every day from the pain of losing both legs. The only day he doesn’t need a dose are the days he’s going surfing!

Surfing is a powerful experience that feeds the heart and soul, share it with someone today.

that same day they had the "miracle league" baseball thing happening in town.it too provides opportunities for disabled kids to have fun, hit some balls, run bases, etc. good to see all of this happening!

There is an organisation titled: www.ampsurf.org that puts on a surfabout for disabled vets once a year in Pismo. VERY rewarding experience. Never sorry to help out.
