HF variable sander discs

Hey all,

First off, thanks for all the advice. The community is amazing.

Newb here, and of course, I ate the poisonous apple and bought a harbor freight variable speed 7" sander/polisher. I basically just got it in order to save a little time repairing dings. I have been going through the posts in regards to the sanding discs that people use, and it looks like some people use 6" discs, others glue sandpaper to the sander/polisher. I have been having a tough time finding 7" sanding discs at my local hardware store. I was wondering if it would be possible to use this from HF ( http://www.harborfreight.com/5-piece-5-inch-polishing-sanding-set-94763.html ) connected to my variable speed sander and then just use 5" sanding discs that seem pretty ubiquitous. Do you think its a waste of money and should I just use 6" sanding discs?

Any help that you guys can help with would be amazing. Thanks again.

just go ahead and buy yourself a good sanding pad from one of the places that acqua mentioned, you’ll thank yourself in the long run. When i first started, i bought all harbor freight stuff. If you spend the money to get quality tools its so much easier to work with and your board will turn out way better.
