Hitachi Modification(NOT THE DEPTH ADJUSTMENT)

Hey guys, I cant seem to find any info about the other modifiaction for the hitachi…i like to do a handle reloction, changing bearing, adding a new cord and put the exhust.

So, thanks to newleaf i will do the on the fly mod but now i need some info about the other mods…

I ordered from SurfSource the exhust and it should be arrived in next week. Somebody can explain how to install it? pictures might be very helpful.

same thing about the hande, bearing and the cord, somone can explain how to install/change each one of them? thanks.

.BTW some photos from good day of surfing here in Israel, Enjoy

The exhaust is as simple as it gets. Screw the bad boy onto the side of the planer with the exhaust opening.

Bearing changes, you need to find the bearings you already have and measure them with a caliper or find the measurments somewhere on the web. You then dissassemble the WHOLE planer, i mean the whole damn thing. Drum out blades out motor and main bearings out, then you need a small bearing puller to pull the old bearings out, THEN you relube the new bearings install them into your unit with the bearing puller you used previously, button the whole thing up and hope everything is in right. If its not say hello to a ruined planer body.

Bearings can be had here: http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-ball-and-roller-bearings/=s9ip9d

The cord, go out and buy a cord with a ground in it. take apart the hendle and remove the old cord. Install the new one match the colors up on the wires, easy.

Handle mod. Google it. Its been shown here, on surfsource, SwellTell, Surfline, everywhere. But just cuz you couldnt find it the first time, here you go.

The way you worded your question made it sound like even installing a vacuum port will be too difficult. Maybe have somebody else do the mods, or better yet if you have the cash, one of PeteC’s Bosh kits. People love em.
