I have an unmodified Hitachi planer and was curious if anyone has done any DIY depth modifications to theirs? I’m just looking to get a cut from zero to open in fewer turns than the current setup. From what i have read in the clark foam manual, they show their knob fitting at 1/2" 13 threads.

All i have come up with is this. A piece of aluminum bar stock either threaded or epoxied over the shaft on the base plate. After this i could re thread with more teeth per inch and find a new knob. has anyone done something like this?

I did search but all the good threads were older and the pics are no longer there . does anyone have pictures of the clark foam depth adjustment or how its setup?
