Hitachi p20sb questions

Hey everyone, I’m kinda new here. I’ve been reading through the forum for awhile now and I just recently got my first planer the p20sb. I’m planing on doing a few mods to it, specifically the handle mod first. I I’m also going to swap out the cord on it because the original cord has some damage to it. I looked through the forums for specific extension cords others have used but couldn’t find much on it so I was wondering if any extension cord would work or if I should go with a heavy duty cord? My other question is after some modifications like grinding the toe and shoe along with possibly attempting the depth adjustment mod can I use it on both wood and foam ? Or should it be used strictly with foam ? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. fish

Hi Fish-

Congrats on the planer.

Cord gauge is determined by a combination of tool amperage and length of cord.

If you are unsure how to size and/or wire the cord, please take it to a professional and have them install the proper sized cord.

It sounds like a used planer. Are the blades sharp and properly installed?

I would skip the mods until you have checked it over and make sure it is working in its stock configuration. Once the depth control is modified only use it on foam.

Be safe, have fun. -J

Hi Fish-

We have the correct 25ft cord available for that planer here.  Email us at Sales@FoamEZ.com with any questions.

Best of luck with the mods.
