Quick question here, i’m moving to Hong Kong in about 3 months, I was wondering if anyone out there knew where it would be possible to get stuff for shaping? Resin, glass mostly just the chemicals, tools are cheap and easy to get there. The last time I was there 2 weeks ago I couldn’t seem to find any epoxy or poly resin. I dont want to order it off of the net because I think the shipping cost would be more than the actual price. Any info would be great, thanks.
Howzit justin, Hong Kong is in China and since they are getting so big in the surfboard building business you should be able to find materials hopefully. You should probably wait til you get there and then look into it. Then again is there such a thing as back yard builders in China which might be a problem in finding a source.Aloha,Kokua
Had a cuzn and a friend living in Shek O Beach, Honkers, about ten years ago. Friend surfed. Cuzn didnt. I had tons of emails describing the surf conditions almost daily for several years. Then he moved to Phuket and had surf condition emails from there. Then somewhere else w/o surf. Another Ozzie lost in Asia.
Check the link provided. No surf shops in Shek O.
Go to “Tai Long Wan” aka big wave bay , there a local shaper who custom board . good luck …
