homemade shaping racks

I’ve read some stuff in the archives about racks, but can someone email me a photo of their 2x4 bucket racks? I’d like to see what they look like befor building them. Thanks. email -

See the link - simpler than even 2x4 racks… the bucket racks below that wierd board are 2x8 dock planks (treads), salvaged from the beach after a storm. with an 8" deep x 4" wide slot cut in them. slots are lined with carpet scraps (duct-taped on - of course). Put them straight in the buckets and fill with sand. When not in use the buckets sit empty, stacked behind a shed and the carpeted, slotted planks go inside, back in the corner. Very easy, very quick to make, easy to set up and take apart too. Go build. Eric J http://www.swaylocks.com/resources/Detailed/762.html

ok i sent a pic of mine…its really not that hard to do, just make shure the slot will be wide enough and kinda soft…man it would be crazy if your chris from VA . CRAZY!..

I just built my first rack… bucket of concrete, 1 1/4 inch threaded iron pipe with a flange screwed on top. Piece of steel bent into a u shape with wings (standard shape for racks) attached to the flange with self tapping screws. Attach whatever padding you like (I used quilting batting, and am going to have to try something else…). Make two of these and put 'em wherever you need 'em. Now to work on my shaping…

was cruizin the Homer Depot a ways back and was thinking that I’d like to get rid of the crappy carpet that somehow seems to have affixed itself to my shaping rack. Went to the plumbing section and found the SWEETEST foam rubber tubing. The stuff is fantastic. Very cushiony and durable. Even comes with a peel off adhesive strip that is damn strong. thoug I added a little 3M adhesive upon instalation. Best all it comes in a bunch of differnet diameters. Good for steel tubing, or wood racks. Drew

including roof racks. I have to get a couple bundles of that stuff, I have about 10 sets of soft roof racks to make before the rental season this spring. Four cam-type buckles, about forty feet of 1" heavy poly or nylon webbing and ya stitch 'em up with a box and cross stitch, #92 dacron sail thread. Materials link below. That peel-off adhesive sticks very well to itself - line it up carefully. hope that’s of use doc… http://www.strapworks.com/
