herb, where were you surfing late 90’s…just curious. still digging my chargers, wish there were some waves…
Magoo I see alot of discussion with the superchargers and what seems to be a mostly negative view of the C-5 system. I also have observed that the superchargers in most cases have been retrofits. Doesn’t anyone think that the rusty shapes have a design that benefits from the C-5 set up? Or do you think that it is all a marketing scheme, which it seems the popular opinion here? Ken Ken, In no way did I mean to insinuate that I feel that the C5 is just a marketing ploy. I have tried them and several of my bros use them with good reviews. I like the way a canard system works when I choose to use a shortboard. I was merely trying to help a person realize that they were knocking something they haven’t tried out – in my opinion that jus’ ain’t right. I prefer to use the Supercharger set up that Herb has developed because for ME they seem to work better. --side note: [During my undergrad days I became used to measuring and documenting results of anything that I did that could be measured – with an intent to maximize time, effort and results. During that same period I made money by managing a shoe store, running a collegiate window washing business, unloading trucks part-time for benefits and the workout as well as buying and rebuilding cars and hot rods in my spare time. Oh yeah, all while carrying a minimum of 16 units per semester (most of them with no credit labs). That bit of history to help you understand that I am always looking to save time.] — To continue, I spent many days in the lineup testing my results and found that for ME there was a significant difference in the performance of my favorite test board. I compared the following: 1. No canard. 2. C5 canards in. 3. Superchargers in. I rode them for over one month in a variety of conditions and a variety of breaks in SoCal. I documented my results after every session in a notebook I keep just for that purpose and I found that my personal results coincide with Herbs description of the results of his development. In other words I duplicated his findings (for the academics out there). Final note: I went to Herbs pad in order to pickup a set of 'Chargers. Herb didn’t know me from Adam. Herb refused to accept money for the Superchargers, he also spent a portion of an afternoon talking board design with me. Bottom line, I will always support anyone with the aloha spirit and Herb (as well as most of the Sways) has it in buckets. The Superchargers work. Give them a try. I’m out, Magoo
Hey Herb, I noticed that too, about the Rusty guys on their C-5s minus the canards. Made me think. Anyway soon as I can get another board ready, I am going hit you up to supercharge it. laters ed
