How Customers Should Approach Shapers

We just did a write up on how to get a custom surfboard.  The idea behind it was to encourage surfers to consider custom boards as opposed to off the shelf.  Not only can they be more tailored, but they allow for more creativity, greater innovation and the preservation of a craft.

I interviewed a number of professional shapers to get advice but wanted to hear the swaylocks opinion.  I know it wont be soft spoken.

Our articles are not like magazine articles that are written and finished, we have topics which we update to stay current more like an encyclopedia entry.  Is there anything you would add to help the average surfer in the process?
