How do I get my boards super white?

Part of my business is painting boards for many different companies.

So I see a lot of foams.

One day. Marty at Arctic Foam brought me a board to paint.

I mostly use US Blanks…

When I placed Marty’s blank in the racks, it was noticibly whiter.

Nova Color titanium White is the whitest white paint I have found.

And I have used Cerex N-Fusion,

It does seem to make boards whiter as the cloth is white, and never goes clear with resin.

Cerex is whiter than Nova paint.  I did a board where the cerex had a little blemish.  A little carbon fiber dust got into it, so it had black freckles in one spot.  So I think, no problem, a little nova white will fix it.  Nope.  The Nova white looks like cream next to the white of the Cerex.

Barry is right about the Cerex not going clear.  But its milky look makes the beads of EPS smooth out an look like poly.  No more spackle for cosmetics.  If you do Cerex over dark paint, it gives a stonwashed denim sort of look.  So many toys to try.

On the West Coast of the US including the Hawaiian Islands unless specified otherwise finished shortboards will come out of most Professional Glass Shops with a single six bottom and a six and four deck.  Sanded finish with a wiped on Acrylic sealer.  Double four ounce decks and single four bottoms are specified by the shaper or customer and are considered “Comp”.  A white resin opaqued blank looks brown next to an Arctic.  You can use an old Clark, Echotech or a Walker.  It doesn’t matter if you tape the stringer and paint it with flat Acrlic paint from Home Depot or Lowes.  I used to use Swiss Coffee to match Clarks when I did reapirs.  You couldn’t even see what I had repaired.  Lowel
