I just started glassing a 6"4 hollow single fin and a guy at the surf shop told me to wait atleast 2 weeks after im done before i ride it. Is this true?
I would wait, to be on the safe side. There is this ledgend that goes a board is better after 3 weeks of finishing, or something like that. So, be patient, get stoked and make sure your board isn’t riden before 3 weeks
!
I’d be giving it at least 2 weeks, soak it up looking at it, feeling it, anticipating it. Remember it is the best it’s going to look until you wax it up and use it.
Congrats on another HWS joining the team.
Where’s the piccies?
cheers

I think he mean’t no surf in Jersey for the next month while these offshores crank.
2 weeks from lamination job.
2 days for sanded hotcoat finish.
One full day for gloss coat.
Not sure what you glassed it with.
If you glassed with Poly, then yes, you should wait a few weeks. The catalyst reacting to the resin may cure to touch in a day or so, but the MEKP actually can take many days for the chemical reacation to finalize.
But if you glassed with UV cured resin, go surf. Instant cure. No catalyst slowing you down.
I know very little about epoxy cure times as I do not use it. Though I am certain that the epoxy experts here can guide you.

word is that epoxy takes a week for a full cure.
thanks a lot guys! i appreciate it… ill post some pics in about a week or so once i get a new camera. It’s my first board and im only 16 , but it did come out a lot better than i thought. cant wait to ride it , or atleast get some waves around here.

Definitely wait a few weeks. And when two weeks is up, don’t just go out at the first sign of 2ft slop. Wait until a nice clean day and Christen her properly.
