Just wondering how much paint I should spray on the hot coat. How much is too much? I want to cover some yellow spots on the board from over sanding. Thanks all.
RIsurfer-You should try paint pens. It would be alot easier. We use them for cover ups usually. If you are an artist, paint something cool on there and sray with Krylon matte finish acrylic.Good luck.TedK.
Hi. I’ve done dozens of spray artworks on the hotcoat, over which a gloss coat has been laid…There is no rule as to the amount of surface area you should cover with paint, but i’d advise you to be conservative - I’ve never covered an entire board in paint, but no reason why it should be a problem, but you take the risk! The more important issue will be preparation before glossing.Tape line edges should be gently light sanded so as not to stand out much, and the shine removed from the paint so that the resin will stick. Gloss coating is an art, and special care needs to be taken doing it over paintwork, but the most important thing is basically only handle the board with covered hands ( Brown paper or plastic bags.) - Don’t let your friends paw the board at any time before completion! The board should not have been sanded too fine ( Still leave some scratches for resin to stick) Greasy patches on your surface can lead to the Gloss coat “separating” and the consequences of this are tragic when it happens on artwork as the only remedy is to sand it all off!!!
