how much resin for 5.7

didnt find similar therad on my question…i find only for 6 and up

any way, how much resin i should use for about 5.7 ? i need to know the amount for every step:bottom lam top lam bottom filler coat top filler coat

so on my bottom i use single 6 oz and for the top i use double 4 oz

i want to know the amount for filler coat as well.

im using RR EPOXY with ADD-F

im preety good glaser so i will not need much extra resin,

if there is some kind of equation for knowing amnout using epoxy please tell.

thank you

Get a gallon.

If you are a good glasser, as you say:

12 oz mixed material for the single 6oz bottom lam (8oz res./40z hardener); 1 capful add F.

15 oz mixed material for the double 4oz top lam. (10oz res/5oz hardener); 1 capful add F.

9 oz mixed material for the hotcoats, each side; 2 capfuls add F; warm up the resin ONLY (NOT MIXED MATERIAL) 3 seconds per oz in the microwave for hotcoats.

I’m no pro, but I’ve glassed 40+ boards with RR and this is what I’d do. Greg L. says general rule 2 oz per foot lam; 1 oz per foot hotcoat. I like to go a bit more than that since I’m still pretty new at it.

great answer^^ how many cc=capful?

If you found info for six ounce; then you are there already.  5.7 is commonly known as 6.

Right on Jamie.  You’ve been listening to Greg.  It’s not as complicated as alot of people make it out to be.  Greg’s DVDs — Epoxy 101 are well done and concise.  Follow them and you will have no probs.

From what I gather from Greg L, the amount of additive F is not an exact science. Basically use double the amount for the hotcoat that you used for the lam. Whatever bottle your additive F is in, use that cap. 1 capful for lams, 2 capfuls for hotcoats.

Hi Idan-The Resin Research factory label on my Additive F bottle says ‘one mL per ounce of hardener’. I have received advice that you can double that as Jamie mentioned for hotcoats. You will want to make sure that it is warm enough so that the solids in the Add F are in solution with the solvent, but don’t use open flame or the microwave. Just put the closed container of Add F you have in a hot water bath until it is all something like 35 deg. C / 90 deg. F and make sure it is mixed before adding to the resin. The resin warming tips given before are also good, it does make a difference.
