How often do you surf and where?

I know sometimes some members get snake eyes when we post other than design stuff. But I also really the “other stuff posts”. So let’s hear it, where, no maps or directions, please  and often do you get in the water? I’m from the Newport Coast to Sunset Cliffs. Usually Churches. Before work and weekends in the winter. After work and weekends in the summer. Sick days are for surfing, yeah?

Here are 3 maps zooming in on one of my surf spots.

Well…I check my local beach every day , and try to get a paddle [at this time of year] pretty much every day . Depending on crowds [or lack of] , conditions , and desire , I like to try for one surf a day .

The reality is …it’s not that good that often , so , over a period of ,say, a year , I’d say it would average out to around four times a week , as the weekends are often too dangerous / crowded to surf here . Especially now , with our summer coming . It’s crowded by 6am most days at the moment.

hey chipper, I just checked out your local surf spot…thanks to the wonderful world of satelite photography. Nice beaches. had no idea there were such large cities in west oz. you should really check this out… earth.google.com …no www …that way you can see all of our local spots also.

With this, I can zoom in so close, I can see individual people on the beach.

hey scott can you post a few of nelson and durville island in new zealand along that coastline in tasman bay

i havent got broadband so cant get google earth

In any case, i do surf on a regular basis, 4 to 15 times a year, and only during winter… doooh really sad, fortunately i do skate at least 3 times a week.

W-E-L-L…

…that’s still 3 to 14 times a year more than the artist known by the username “LeeDD” surfs … so, well done , Flavs !

I try to get in the water at least two to three times aweek, but now with the time change that may change. Harder to get out for evening session after work.

i am fortunate to have a schedule that allows me time to surf in am or afternoon on a daily basis.thus, if there is some sort of wave to ride i do so.unfortunately riddable waves don’t happen on a daily basis, so i keep active with other outdoor activities, so when the waves are there, i am in halfway decent condition to paddle, etc. with all that said, i probably get in the water 4-5 times a week…

Hi everybody!

I try to surf every day, even in ordinary conditions ‘cause it’s important to be in form when a huge swell comes. I live near two beachbreaks in Florianopolis/SC/Brazil: one 300m (Ingleses’ beach), the other 3km from home (Santinho’s beach). They break in opposite conditions (wind and swell). But I can also check points about 7, 12, 20km in a few minutes. Check the picture and say if I’m not a lucky guy;)

Once a month… counting on a hurricane or a cold front… the gulf sucks.

4-5 times a week. San Diego, from Ocena Beach to Oceanside…

i try yo go as much as possible during the school year, but its limited to about once a month maybe twice if there are waves. mostly i surf on the east coast at places like 2nd light, lori wilson, hangers and spesard holland park, thats where i go for big north swells. and you cant forget monster whole on those big days.

and when i go to the gulf i like 5th street indian rocks beack. theres almost a little point working there and we got great waves from wilma.

during the summer its almost everyday in ocean city md. i live on 130th so thats where i spend most of my time but we session 68th quite a bit and a few times up in de.

5 minutes from my house (oneula/sharkcountry/johns), I hate traveling for crowds

Weekends only for me if there’s still waves to ride

3 hours in the morning (predawn till the sideshores comes up)

2-3 hours in the evening till sunset (when the sideshores die down)

or

on the rising tide halfway mark

Now if the waves are really good…

6 hours straight pre-dawn to lunch (need alot of cytomax/quinine in your system to prevent leg cramping)

go home eat take a nap come back for another 4 hour session in the afternoon.

8-10 hour sessions are rough come tuesday/wednersday though when everything starts to really hurt.

Pretty hard to get anything else done around the house though on that schedule (summer time usually)

I used to haul ass in the dark to northshore every weekend but the crowds put an end to that.

Nothing like driving 45 minutes, paddling out in the dark and running into 10-20 other guys already out…

Two crowds at every spot, hard core older dawn patrol guys who leave around 8-9 and the party all night young bucks who come out a couple hours after sunrise. Best time to surf any spot or find an open tennis court around here is between 10am and 2pm, when it hurts to be outside. Some of my friends will only surf at those times because of all the crowds now adays…

yeah jeff, you are a lucky guy! i only get to mole, or barra da lagoa, and it doesn’t look like that! i guess i need to get a car!

oh yeah, and i try to get out once a day. conditions/wife permitting.

yeah, that’s the best wave area i have ever lived! the reefs north of PB to the shores were the best. lucky dog!

pretty much every day, lately its been a 5 hour session in the am followed by a possible pm session if the wind isnt too bad. same spot every day, 54th street newport.

oneula-

great call on the 10am-2pm surf time.

it’s the best time to be out (generally) in HI. My friends and I call this the ‘sunburn session’ it’s often the least crowded time due to peoples work schedules, lunch, and of course, the frickin’ sun!

Someday you will find the warp in the “Time / Space continumin”.

Beam me down there Scotty, the surf is go’n off !!!
