I have a shaped blank ready to be glassed except for the fact I’d like a little more kick in the nose. I’ve dealt with this before, but on a much thinner board, by threading dental floss around the stringer and hanging a weight to flex the nose down when doing the first lam. on the bottom ( board was on my glassing rack). Once the resin cured, the weight was released, floss removed from resin, and the deflection stayed put, right at the first 6 inches of the nose.
The current shape is thicker and won’t deflect with this thicker stringer. This board will have an opaque finish, so I’m thinking about thinning the stringer to the point where it will flex and using the same hanging weight routine, then filling in the slot were the missing stringer material was taken.
Any comments? I’ve maxed out on the nose rocker as it is with this blank when I shaped it, but it needs a beak!
score some regular interval on the stringer with a razer knife You can then bend the stringer to get the lift as you want fill the open slots with resin and filler allow to dry and sand flush. it is alot less work and will have a better chance of not breaking. By thinning out the stringer you create a weak point Stress always looks for a weak point to release.
