How to COLOR a blank?

I am having a blank shaped by GH right now, but I need to get some ideas about how to color it. Since it is a retro quad fish, I want something like the retro looking marbling/swirl effect. I guess there are a few ways to do this, but they look different. Tell me if I understand it right, or any other ideas?

  1. Drip the color on the blank directly in the pattern you want, then take the tinted resin and glass it.

or

  1. Poor a couple different colors in the resin, mixed just a little bit, to look marbly, and glass it like that.

Is that right? Are there any good links out there on how to do this?

Method two is closer to the mark. Do an archive search under acid splash or better yet, Austin surfboards. There are some pretty detailed instructions, I think. I lay a tinted base, yellow is the easiest, then add several small cups of tinted resin over the base and squeegee into the cloth. It’s an art unto itself. Mike

the first color to hit the cloth wins

  1. You can do what we call a foam swirl. Water based Acrylic paint straight out of the bottle. Poured and squeeged to get the desired effect.

  1. I’ve already spilled the beans too many times on resin swirls so do a little searching and you will be suprised what you will find. For me “What ever hits the cloth first wins” is a guide not a rule. Red likes to turn to pink. Darker colors make mud easier.

Have fun.

Nice, I really like that one too. I guess I have some options and some variations. Thanx
