As it is the board is pretty shiny but I would still like to polish it out. From reading the archives it sounds like I sand it with 320 then 600 then use a polishing compound. Is this correct? If it is, what type of polishing compound should I use and where can I get it?
Fiberglass Florida has Surluster which is the compound I like best. Ask Rick or Brent there what they use to finish after the compound. Used to be Liquid Ebony but that’s not around anymore. Their number is 321-639-3046.
Thanks for the info! Unfortunately, I need it sooner that later (theres only so long I can wait to get the board into the water!). Can I used just any polishing compound?
3M stuff is fine. Just check your local auto paint supply place and ask which one is best for plastics.
Do I need to sand before I polish? Thanks for the 3m tip.
Howzit Dan, If you are using rubbing compound instead of Shurlustre then use both course and fine compounds to obtain the best finish.Aloha,Kokua
