How to really build an XPS board

Here's mine from over 6 years ago - it's still going strong.

Cutting the rocker profile strips and then glueing them together minimises the amount of waste and foam dust you generate when building a board out of XPS sheets - but you have to deal with multiple glue lines when shaping.

Hey Ding,

Thinking of that thread still, maybe you can make the post with some general info, and fill in the rest later?

cheers

Hi Wouter:

I have a few DOW BLUE BILLETS. 8’ x 24" x 24" in my storage unit.

Looks like I need to pull one out and make a board.

I was super busy this summer and did not have anytime to explore.

You motivate me to start a new tread with step by step XPS construction.

A customer who I made one for 6 years ago came in and wanted a ding fixed.

Funny thing is he got the ding 3 years ago.

XPS is HYDROPHOBIC

Cosmeticly he wanted it fixed.

It’s his favorite board and I have made him 20 PU boards during this period of time.

He always seems to go back riding the thing.

It’s just a HPSB.

However it still has a lot of life.

From a production stand point XPS is not practical for most shops.

As a one off their not so difficult to make.

Give me about 2 weeks and I will start a new tread:

“STEP BY STEP XPS CONSTRUCTION”

Coming Soon!

Kind regards,

surfding

We all are anxiously waiting for it!

Kind regards back to you

Wouter

Here is one I made from the blue xps foam I found at Lowes, painted it and then glassed it with Solarez Zerovoc. This is only my second board so it came out a little rough, but learned a ton doing it. It measures 6’x22"x3"

Looks like you enjoyed the whole process, and I like the last shot of you surfing it.  Bravo!

@ghettorat thanks! it was so fun making it and even more fun riding it! Sooo stoked!
