Best way is with a hammer. I tried all recommendations last night and though a hammer sounds harsh it isn’t if used this way. Just like a heinz bottle have to hit it in the right spot. about 3/4 of the way up the fin hit it with wood part of handle towards the head. the part of the fin where you’ll be pushing back and slightly down while doing this. after an hour of all other attempts this worked in 3-4 light to medium taps. then i made sure to wax my blackstix which are the only ones to get stuck like this and they go in and out easy now. tada! now go buy a swell shell.
had some of the box inserts get stuck in a box before. There is nothing to grab on, and sticking a screwdriver in the hole on top didn’t help. I ended up getting one of those super small flat head screwdrivers and slowly pried the ffin part up, ie by the screw in the front. If done carefully you won’t get any scratches, and no whacks to the board.
