I was just wondering if any of you know th ebest way to get this type of color grade that Superwolf seems to master…
How would you proceed if you had to lam one like these?
I have a vague idea of the process but the lines are so crisp. Experience/ I am sure plays a huge role in this but I am sure some of you guys may come up with real good tips :).
super easy. pour colored resins from tip to tail. Thinner lines will need to be applied from a squirt bottle…mustard or what not bottle. Devil is in the detail…lay out and what not.
Best practice is use UV resin with a bit of catalyst to kick off to increase work time but UV for quick flash kick, Catalyst will make dark colors kick when sun wont penetrate UV. small lines quickly widen when soaking into glass. Dark rails cover any mud that might have happened.
Also…when all done with color work. I like to flood color work with clear resin ( yes waste of resin) it locks down the color so it wont run when working over the colors. This is super handy when you want some clear spots to show through.
Oh the squirt bottle trick is a great one, read about it in an old post but forgot about it (Mexican Blanket post).
Need a lot of weed to not be shaking tho haha
The clear resin on top of the color sounds like a good tip too, I don’t really mind “wasting” resin if the result is killing it
I am using UV for most of my boards, always with some catalyst too so I will do the same for this.
Do you guys also customize your squeegees? I was think about trying to sand down the corner edges so it doesn’t make straight lines in between two colors if you see what I mean. I remember an old post from Nainoa (aka Darthvader) where he was about to post pics of his squeegee but never did
This is a McCallum board Phebus, but McCallum is a shaper, the laminator is Alex Villalobos aka Superwolf on the internet as mentioned in my first post :D… Just so the credits go to where and who they belong to. That said, McCallum is a beast too!
