You know what they say, “there are a hundred ways to skin a cat.” Here’s just one way to sand a surfboard brought to you by the fellas up at the Hawaii Surf Factory. Hope this helps and is enjoyable.

I think this should be moved to the general discussion forum.
As you said, this is just one way to do it, but wow. Starting with 220 grit; hard/medium pads only; that is some experts-only stuff. As a primarily epoxy guy, would this process be something to shoot for even with epoxy? Per Greg L’s video I always do my “first cut” with 100, not to mention flattening out the fin boxes, lap areas with hard-pad 60 grit. I can’t imagine having any impact on epoxy starting with 220. Am I wrong?
I’m with you.
All the best
What stage was this board at when the sanding began? Did it have the gloss coat? I would find starting with a 220 after the filler coat to be too fine, take too much time and proberly overheat. I’m no expert but have done a few.
I start on the reinforcement raw edges with 24 grit
I-beams finbox multi surface layers and quad lapped noses and tails…

Thanks a lot for the sharing.
What a resource! thanks for taking the time to post this excellent video. I like the point you make regarding the tight lam and filler coat to make the sanding job much easier. Unfortunately as a board buildier from start to finish, I can only blame myself for sanding drama.
I’ll second that. I’m just in the process of sanding my latest board and I keep wishing my glassing skills were better - it’d save me so much time and drama when it comes to sanding. Oh well, you live, you learn…
