same spot , gnarly section of coast …
where the reef ledges are , the beach behind is flat and drivable …
where there is no reef you have massively deep water straight onto a beach that is so steep your car slides into the water as you try and drive over these large loose grains …
i seriously thought i was gonna lose my car here and have heard the same story from others …
this day there was no swell , i couldnt find a rideable wave , yet when the small swells slap the ledge , its still enough to create this …
ive heard these beachies can handle massive swell , i surfed some nearby ones back in 99 and we were surfing solid triple head waves 6 to 8 foot sets , i saw the nearby ones at 15 plus and still holding shape , but no one was game to paddle out …
heres another pic of some other beachies with a totally different bottom set up only 10 kms south of the spot pictured above ,
this place is totally wild and uninhabited …
you can see reef out the back which breaks up the swell and turning it into multiple random peaks , that same reef joins the coast further up creating this weird deep water straight onto land set up …
one more pic of another nice wave further north as the reef starts to take over the coast line …
crazy place , super deep straight onto ledges …
this whole area is dotted with these type of waves …
its so deep just offshore that you dont know a set is coming till you hear it pound the ledge and look up to see a wall of white water moving over the reef …
many signs dot this coast reminding people that the waves kill …
man i really do miss that coast …
regards
BERT

Bert - area name starts with W and is reasonably popular with fishermen?
