Hynson Mattison Epoxy Boardworks Black Knight Quad - Opinions ???
I’ve never ridden a non PU board. Lately, I’ve been ridding mainly longboards and I want a fish for the quiver as an alternative to my shortboard as I really don’t get out as much as I’d like. I’m hoping this board will get into waves early but am not sure about going with boardworks.
My local break is rocky… and before I get too much grief all my other boards are hand made PU.
In my experience, the shorter the board made witl PVC foam, the stiffer and lifeless it becomes. I personally don’t like this and I’m stoked on my Balsa compsand fish. I think flex becomes even more critical in shorter boards and smaller waves.
Best advice is to test drive a boardworks or Surftech fish first.
If you can afford it, I think they are great boards. They last forever if you take care of em, they’re easy to fix, and they’re light and strong. I haven’t tried the Hynson but somewhere I read they were pretty fast. I’ve ridden surftechs and other composite epoxies and I like them. Im pretty light so they float me like crazy but thats not always good when you’re trying to duckdive bigger waves. We have a boardworks longboard and you can see some mold marks and cloth overlaps when you look at it in the light. I heard the newer boardworks boards have been improved.
