today I surfed my freshly glassed longboard… like 24 hours fresh…It kicked at 75 then was stored at 50 deg…I noticed it had an unreal amount of flex in the water…than I wondered if the wax I put on it will allow the resin to breath and cure in a proper fashin…Did I weakin the strength of the board? should I remove the wax to let the thing cure? p.s. the waves were 1 foot on shore winds blowin and I still had a riot.thanks T.J.
Hey It’ll cure, no matter what you do. Check for deck dents at your rear foot area, caused by your knees. If there are none, just go surfing, tear it up, hang ten or heels, and have fun.
preare a shrine with velvet and marshmallows spread rose petals softly place board carefully atop alter of crimson fern shoots…prepae cerimonial icecream with walnuts and silver sprinkles place them on the board on a coaster…step back slowly in low tones promise all women present you will return in a timely fashion after surf excursions and no going to mexico without phoning home first…repeat this daily for 3- 7 days before releasing the abusive inner toy wrecking child…200 percet, humphrey said, gain in strength in the 1st month…surfin’s o.k. just no Knees, Elbows,or gorgon grips… be sweet listen and back off when the board says owwie…start the next board the damage to this one will be less traumatic…good job lad good job…ambrose… if you convince yorself he waves are KRAPPY it will be easier to let the board cure…in the basement where the heat from the heater is steady and not damaging?
My call on this is that you did the right thing. The cold water will help suck everything down. Now let it set for awhile, in a warm area, not hot. That part of what Ambrose said I agree with. The rest of what Ambrose is also ok but I think the ice cream should be in a big deep bowl.
Ambrose, I thought your were live in HI, I lived there for a couple of years on Oahu and never saw a single basement. And even better I never saw a basement with a furnace or heaters. Being from the Northeast basements are common place and where everyone lets their boards cure extra quick. Nothing seels a ding quicker than doing the repair in the basement leaving it overnite and knowing your boards good to go come the dawn patrol. Just thought I would bust your balls a little. Your the man with the master plan. http://www.surfli.com/images/ea1jpg.JPG
on the way to school in the 1st grade in san francisco at eldorado home school I got really wet in a down pour , 5 blocks up delta street from teddy avenue, and I got to spend a special couple hours in the furnace room drying out…TJ estan orgonia en los frios casas centro…all them guys got cure rooms goin to waste if they dont realize…just vent the low air out of the space and toxicity will be in check…I live in hawaii because the indoor atmospheres are hell on my weakened respiritory realities (my folks were tobacco smokers) waipouli has great air…I can last about two nights in artificial atmosphere…ambrose…DEEP BREATH
thank for the great incourgement…you really got a way with words I call home and start the plan today…surf is good today, i will drive to the coast and surf my first creation…thanks
I also noticed how much lighter that the short board is after it cured it lost alot of weight…all the great stuff you learn from these processes…man I love this stuff.cool
