I just wanted to put this idea i had out there to see what every one thinks, and if anyone knows if it’s ever been done.
I’ll start with how it came to me. We have a grey hound called sam and he has a micro chip under the skin of his neck, this holds information that is meant to help track the owners should he get stolen.
I’ve keep reading about people getting their boards nicked, even more so after blank monday.
I was thinking that it wouldn’t be too difficult to put one of these chips in a board before glassing.
the only problem I could see would be if the “chip” interferes with my leader’s signals when the spaceship finally arrives to return me to my planet .
But for all of you eathlings , heck why not ? Maybe all the unclaimed dogs can follow you home , and you can …what is the expression you guys use …yes , that’s it …you can "kill two birds with one stone "
Shouldn’t be too hard methinks…I know that some painters, who would be the targets of forgers are incorporating chips into their paint (Pro Hart to name one). Car makers are spraying them into panels to stop theft and stripping for parts. Wouln’t take much to chuck one under the glass somewhere.

any thoughts.
I haven’t heard of it but it is possible, probably expensive in small runs…but why not test the waters…maybe incorporate it into a fin plug or box…
Wheels, Pro Hart (RIP) used his own dna from a swab and wrote his signature with that…
Chip and Doug, you guys should get more sleep, your latent tendencies are starting to surface… :-))
I have a friend Col from Motivation Lines Surfboards in Shellharbour NSW Australia.
He has micro chips inserted into the legrpoe plug with a code number
A scanner scans over the plug and the number is reveiled.
When he sells a board with the chips in them, they fill out a form with all their details and this is sent somewhere ( not sure where) and entered into a central data base.
The boards are also marked with a logo around the plug so any would-be theives know it is chipped.
If the board is stolen, found or turns up at a porn broker, a simple scan will determine who the rightful owner of the board.
A RFID micorchip is what your talking about. It could be easily done and probably cheaply too around $1-4 per chip. I don’t think it would help theft as it only provides information, like a barcode. To track something you really need a GPS or you need to triangulate position with at least 3 RFID readers. It could help with inventory, and if a stolen board pops up you could be able to determine the first owner. If shops started scanning used boards it might help…
