Apparantly Keiren rides those things exclusively. It doesn’t really matter whether they are shaped, molded or molded and shaped, my point was, some pro’s are using boards made with alternative materials/techniques and doing reasonably well. There’s also David Rastovich who is riding a oiled cedar veneered stryo cored board - no glass - the cedar has enough compressive strength. He doesn’t compete, but still needs to rip where ever he goes, to bring in the sponsership dollars. However the polyester/PU foam combo has so much going for it from a manufacture and cosmetic point of view - that even proven alternatives are going to have a hard time displacing it, IMHO.
Poly rules. Always will. Balsa comes in second, and redwood comes in third. Everything else stinks. Oh, except the mats. Those are always cool.
