If they could tell their story themselves; I’m sure a few anyway would have something to say about surfboards foam or balsa.

If this one could talk I’d ask it ; What shaper owned it ? When did he retire and move to Arizona? Did it ever shape anything besides balsa?(Balsa shavings are all Pete found inside when it was disassembled). Who cut the base off? Who drilled the slot on the depth adjustment? Who made the custom homemade grill for the motor housing? Where did its shaping career start? Little things like that.

Yeah if your planer could talk we’d bribe it with a new set of blades and it would rat you out and tell us where you got those bearings. We could run a little “good cop, bad cop” routine on it.
I meant to mention; The front shoe on this Skil is not original. The shoe is one of the original batch that Pete Casica had milled years ago. I liked Pete’s front shoe better than the original and had Pete install them on both of my “daily drivers”. The other one can be seen hanging in the background of one of the pics. Out of 15 or so that I have bought over the years; I only got had one with a bad front shoe.
