…what would you build instead…???..
Houses.
Oh wait, I just remembered I can't build surfboards, and I do build houses!
Small sailboats, dorys, and kayaks.
......oops!
I would probably build more friendships outside the surfing world.
I know I enjoy building trails for my atv.
I think I'd get out of manufacturing and into something else.
build a sense of humour ,
it will see you through life’s rough ride
Probably guitars.
But the investment of time - yikes ! I’d say surfboards pale in comparison .
babies!
at least I’d do a lot more practising
I like building water craft. Did some canoes. I like the design process and the layout. The informal testing is good also. Right now boards have peaked my interest. Lots to explore. But I was wondering the other day what things I will be getting myself into in the future. Even in the wake of dis-enchantment with my primary vocation, I have found that I can't stop making stuff. I thought making beer would be a good one but, then again, I really don't need to consume mass quantities of brew.
If I could not build surfboards...I guess my hands would have been sawn off.
My idea of fun would be a workshop with every tool I ever wanted, all the time in the world and no need to build anything commercial...Unrestricted, I'd build anything that took my fancy.
Painting, sculpture, hotrods, choppers. Inventions...

I'd love to build a motorbike one day, done a few re-builds but never an actual build.
I have thought several times about making a wooden sculpture of a Vincent V twin engine for my living room. If anyone has a real Vincent V twin they could loan me for a couple of years (only to use as reference, honest) I'd be really grateful. Please form an orderly queue.
Other than that I'd make leurve!
Hey fat...
Yep, a Vincent, or a Velocette, even a humble BSA or Triumph actually, as long as you don't expect it to stay stock.
Here's a pic of the bike project I have going right now:- The frame is a mock-up in photoshop, but the parts are real...
I get on the chopper forums sometimes and feel like such a noob...

I think I would enjoy building or restoring classic cars and trucks. Start with a 58 Chevy Apache. I don't know if I could pay for that hobby, though. Mike
I always wanted to build something like a Pitt’s Special (fully aerobatic biplane), or a P-51 replica. Maybe that should be my next project. I have enough surfboards to last the rest of my life already!! If only I had a bigger garage!!!
Gotta love the CB350K engine. I’ve built three of them. I’ve still got two, one’s in pieces under the work bench. It’s going to be an CR350 replica someday. Used to run a Ducati SS on Italia trackdays at Willow Springs, but it got too expensive. Someday I’ll get back into it.
Good luck with the chopper project.
Boats. Always dreamed about being a boat builder. But life has a way… of getting in the way.
Spend more time on my cars

I would blow glass and make stained glass windows. I was part of the
US studio movement back in the 70’s. I was already shaping by then,
but couldn’t make it a business.
Today, it is so expensive to start up and keep running a studio year
'round, I would rather shape!! Gotta win the lottery so I can do it all…
trj,
Very cool Econoline. We had a blue Econoline Van as a kid. Same styling. Ghia is nice, too. Mike
