ok im shure somebody hes seen the tubes of stuff at a boat store called coloring agent, ive used it on a couple of boards and as far as i know its fine… well what im getting at is …is this the same as pigment …please explan what the difference is cause its all the same to me.
Boat store coloring agents are usually opaque pigments, and hide any flaws in the blank, but also don’t show depth thru your glassing job.
Tints are transparent colors, and give you that depth when looking closely at the glass job. It shows thru all the flaws when colored, that’s bad, but can be mixed with white coloring agent/pigment hide flaws, but also make the board look colored like a surftech.
well the times ive used this coloring agent , ive just used it pretty light and kinda acid splash so you could see through it and any small holes in the blank were darker …is this what you mean by inperfections ,? or will it even show places that arent really fine sanded? another thing is the coloring agent also has a surfacing agent which cant be good if im making all my resin colored…just a smaller ammout swirled in dosen t seem to matter,im guessing pigment dosent have wax or anything as a surfacing agent…thats really the only reason im switching away from tubes of coloring agent…
yeah depth sounds good …igment? thats not a word. or is it?
