Sorry. I have never used a hand-held planer for anything.
Not sure of the specifics of that Planer but if you zero the planer foot with no blades fitted to the barrel and place a straight edge across the bottom of the planer. Then you can measure the distance from the barrel and that should give you an idea of how much blade should be protruding. Hopefully that makes sense? Merry Christmas!!!
