in the "paper"...

I love this quote

“And there’s been a growing acceptance of so-called epoxy boards,”

They associate “epoxy” boards with china imports.

TFAD and moonlight are the biggest opponents of epoxy since forever.

They can’t adapt to the demands of the surfers well…

So to review…it’s still grubby’s fault, epoxies fault and the asian’s fault, fuel costs, sandpaper cost. Ever here of raising your prices for the “quality” product that 0.0003% of the surfers rave about?

Anyone every consider the pu/pe product is the horse buggy in the automotive manufacturing revolution???

"They can’t adapt to the demands of the surfers well… "

You’re right, they should close down their San Marcos operation and move it to China, I’m sure their employees wouldn’t mind. And I can mail my blanks to them for glassing.

I don’t think it’s fair to base someones

opinions on quotes in the paper. I don’t know

if you have ever been interviewed, but from

experience, its all sound bites… what works

for the article, not what you said or the truth…

Moonlight does do epoxy, but they specialize

in high quality resin work. Got to give them their

due, if you ask Greg L., he will tell ya the same thing.

Doesn’t have anything to do with politics…

They don’t glass my stuff, just an observation.

Also, most of my non-shaping/glassing surf buddies

(and after 50 yrs of doing it, I have a lot) don’t know

the diff between a surftech epoxy Stewart, a EPS

epoxy Stewart, and a pu/pe Stewart!! That was

what the comment was about…

Sorry he came off in the interview as a whining cry baby. Unfortunately I have had conversations with TFAD before and the piece presents him spot on in my opinion.

I think his stinky voc producing “high quality resin work” will become a novelity once epoxy resin rules the world of surfing.

My epoxy comment was from page number 1.

Read his(TFADS) old post on this site regarding epoxy. They will speak for themselves.

no need to move, there are plenty of lawns that need mowing in San Marcos. Just stop the whining and crank up the weed wacker.

Classic TFAD circa 2003

“Two hot topics in surfing today: fin drag and epoxy. 1)Fins don’t cause drag, they generate speed- if you use your legs and actually try a turn. I often hear surfers debating different fin setups, poo pooing certain fins claiming “that causes to much drag.” The reality is the only thing causing drag on your surfboard is the rope you have trailing behind it. 2)Epoxy sucks.”

Ignorant on both topics!!

yeah pretty interesting reading the archives from tfad

but then again when i read my own posts i cringe as well

anyway people change and learn and have to eat there words at times

better that then to plow on ignorantly

its okay to be wrong

TFAD 2008 then:

"Let’s rewind to 2006. Suddenly EPS and Epoxy was in high demand and it took weeks and weeks for Greg Loehr to get his MSDS information out. Literally, hundreds of boards were glassed with RR resin before he supplied MSDS sheets. Ask any of the Oceanside, CA glass shops.

How come Javier from Epoxy Pro doesn’t come on Swaylocks and scream down Matt and Resin-X? Why don’t the Patagonia guys come on Swaylocks and scream down Matt and Resin-X?

Just what was Greg Loehr, “sofisicated” hero to the domestic surfboard shaper, doing hanging out in the China booth at the 2008 ASR tradeshow in San Diego??? "

The TFAD has issues with epoxy.

Hope he is not allergic to grass…the mowing type that is.

well they can scale down and do colour work

people still like pretty boards

anyway i dont care what i do for work as long as making good coin and its no more then 30hr a week

ill clean toilets

i only care about what im doing for play
