i know about my boards and wanted to share some info…besides learning about shaping techniques, which i love to do here…i figured i would share a little about what i am riding and what i find works: tyler – 9’6" zeke – heavy – little nose rocker – not much tail rocker – really a displacement hull – very fast and glides through the water – sweet spot is about 18" from nose – very fun in all kinds of surf (even overhead) – pinched 50/50 rails – turns great from tail (pivots) – really a fun board – some find it difficult to ride – i like how tyler uses the old (63-67) designs and templates to come up with a modern board skip frye fish – 5’10" – twin keel fin – not easy to ride at 180lbs – need a descent swell – holds a line but turns on a dime – not my primary board but fun to take out every so often liddle hull – greenough inspired – 7’6" so much fun when waves are over waist high – full on rail turning – smoothe – fast — you can feel the fin flex and snap you up – fin set way forward – really best frontside – ride it forward – really not an all around board unless you live at a perfect pointbreak – but a way fun addition – great paddle – catches anything neumatic surfcraft – inflatable surf mat – i was a skeptic but figured if greenough liked em they must be special – well after a fun standup session they are soooo much fun – you won’t believe where they catch the waves – how well they turn – how close a feeling it is to body surfing — def a fun addition to a quiver – it is interesting how some people can really take such an old basic toy and make a fun surfcraft. i would love to hear about what other people have, or have had, and what they think of em. jon wegener just shaped me a noserider – i will let everyone know how it works. as an aside i did surf a pure fun step deck last week – and it really seemed to work. i was pleasantly surprised.
