Hola! Does anyone out there have experience surfing S, SW Ireland? Specifically Garretstown, Long/Red Strand, Fennels Bay, Inchydoney? I am headed there next May for a family trip and would love to get some waves in the homeland!
I’m heading over early May also… To teach a How To Hollow board class…
I’d enjoy meeting some of the local crew…???..

Hello fellow Irish surfers…
That was a trip seeing our website on this post! I’m head artist & designer for Irish Surf Culture, based out of Bundoran, Ireland & Neptune Bch., Fl. I work with Richie Fitzgerald (aussie legend Terry Fitz’s nephew), on the clothing line among other things. You may remember Richie from the Ireland part of ‘Step Into Liquid’ with the Malloys. Richie & his brother are the one’s that started the ‘Cross Boarders’ days bringing Catholic & Prodostant kids together regularly to surf together. Actually, Richie, the Malloys & Kelly Slater among other european & american pro surfers are in the middle of filming a documentary about the history of Irish surfing as we speak, backed by the BBC, filming in Ireland, Hawaii(they’re there now), & California. It’s tentively called ‘Waveriders’ as of now & promises to be awesome. Richie & his family also run a surf shop in Bundoran called Surfworld, www.surfworldireland.com, & you can find all the links/info you need about surfing in Ireland, or go to our site, www.irishsurfculture.com, check out the gallerys to get yourself stoked for the trip, & check out or line of original clothes/accesseries to get fresh gear for your trip! Your gonna be stoked on Ireland, perfect points, reefs, rock points, beautiful people & scenery, & the water’s alot warmer than you think! Anybody attending the Surf Expo in Orlando in January, stop by & say hi, we’ll grab a pint!
cheers,
Mike Whitaker- artist/designer
