is 10' good width for a shaping bay..or is it too wide for good lighting?

im about to build a shaping bay in my back yard.  i was thinking 12'x10'. is 10' too wide for good lighting? thanks

Hey Grog, Ten feet is not too wide and is a good width. Light elevation is more important. You might want to think about length if you are starting from scratch. Some day you might want to do a pretty long board or glider and want a little extra length.

12' x 16'

Go with 10’ perfect width , it allows for some decent shelves for your side lights and tools.

Go longer than 12’ if you can my last bay was 10’ x 17’ I found that to be ideal.

My backyard all purpose room was also 10’ x 17’ but I had a bench and cupboards in there so my distance between the lights was only 8’.

Eventually it get’s a bit tight Ha Ha.

cool guys,  thanks.  ill see how much longer i can make it.   thanks again

10’ is the ideal width IMHO, but 12’ works good too.

Remember you need to account for a work bench at the end of it for mixing resins and stuff. I suggest 10’x18’, with a 2’ deep bench, leaves you 10’x16’ of work area.
