I know it’s probably a ridiculous question, I pose it mainly for a laugh and the fact that it has taken so long
to complete mine.
If Gil and Chip delve into the memory banks they’ll probably recall me purchasing the blank some time around
October 2005…have to check the Credit Card statement, but it’d be around then.
The process was rewarding in the fact that I refined a planshape that wasn’t quite right in the first instance.
The search facility on Swaylocks as it is now, may have have made the search for correct dimensions and
rail shape easier than it was a while back. Although in saying that I got all the info. I needed.
Also made the Wood Keel fins (photo’s in next post) out of Fijian Cedar Plywood (thanks again for the offer Craig), and now have the
foiling bug. The laying up (on a surface) of just the two sheets of glass each side of the Keels was easier than
I’d imagined. The foiling well it’s just dusty, but with a more workable product like f/glass, rather than hardwood
the process can only be easier, so I’m up for another go soon.
Overall I’m happy with the Planshape, took the railshape from the Lis Kneeboard guide, I did a terrible job at glassing
and know now I should only glass indoors, I need all the time I can get to wet the laps. I could have been a little
more patient with some of the sanding, I seem to get gluey swirls form saometimes when sanding Lam resin.
Other than that the dims are 5’7", 20.5", 17", 16", 10" crack. Fins are 11 inch from pins, foiled both sides and toed in 1/8".
There’s a Resin loop on there too somewhere.
Cheers,
Stevo
