Is it too late?

I have almost finished glassing my first board, and initially i wasnt going to put and logo/decals on it but I have changed my mind.

I have done the filler coat and sanded it.

I am going to paint it then do a final gloss coat with epoxy.

Is it too late to put a rice paper logo on it?

I want to do it under the gloss coat without any more cloth.

Is this possible or have i missed the boat.

Thanks,

Scot

Try either silk screen or air brush onto the sand coat. Rice paper really needs to be under glass.

bummer,

i really wanted to put a pic of my grandfather in his racing motor boat from the 50’s. I am giving this board to my son for his 6th birthday in a few weeks and wanted to have a family link as the logo.

thanks,

Scot

…hello,

in the glassing stage there are always solutions

but you need to be careful and know how to work with the tools

and of course have good finish skills

-grab a polisher with hard pad and 50-60 grit

sand the layers in an area bigger than the logo, lam the decal with 1 4 oz and 1 2 oz, filler coat

sand (flat with a Red power pad) again with 100 the edges, sand with 12o

do these with side lights

yeah, I have done it too when all of a sudden customers want a decal on their custom but the board has already been half done…pretty much do what reverb said…Great decal by the way Scot…its a beauty, hope you do it fairly large to do it justice…post pics of the board on progress and when finished if you wouldnt mind…cheers,

I assuming you’ve got some Scottish blood in you, Scot! I was curious about the name of your Granddad’s speedster so I did some checking and found this interesting piece:

yeah my grandfather came to aus when he was in his teens. he used to use that term a bit. he liked telling the story that went with it in great detail

He was pretty cool, he was into Indian motor bikes and boat racing. he started an aluminium foundry in his back yard and used to make his own pistons for his racing engines that were lighter and ran faster but they would only last one race.
