It's like good sex ...

Personally, I like to knock the top off waves same as the bottom and slow aint always the way to do that.

who cares if you r going fast or slow, at least you are surfing. if the wave is fast then i go fast and if the waves is slow theni go slow.

it should be as simple as that.

as for the sex thing its good to change it up a bit. you know keep’em guessin is my moto.

Epac, well said. It’s good to see you out there.

Its good to see R & E’s family camping and surfing. I don’t care if Roy’s boards are fast or different…my guess is they are real fun on some waves, ( they are surfboards, right?)

The speed thread is where I first came in to Swaylocks. It seems there are still a lot of raw sores for people to tap into.

As for myself, who cares! Sometimes I pump for speed, sometimes I only go as fast as “perfect” trim speed is gifted to me, the wave ending it’s life beneath my feet, and then sometimes I’m jamming on the brakes…striving to reenter the womb. To be sure I’ve seen Fast powerful surfing, amazing sometimes, the speed generated. It has never however ruined my surf or made me feel too inferior. All my life there have been some that run faster, jump higher, have faster cars or whatever. When I’m surfing…it’s me, I’m the fastest or smoothest or happiest or most thankful as I can be right there and then. All the speed challenge threads become moot until a robot maximizes each design, on equal manufactured waves. Then all you will know is that surfcraft is fastest on that wave using that setup, with that rider. So what!

There is a reason for sportscars and pickup trucks, tanks and trikes…and the reason is not to argue about mine is better.

For me a strength of Swaylocks is the ability to tap into the collective experience of the masters, men who have been there, done that, but after hearing a new song from around the world, add the nuance as it applies to them or their shapes. Sometimes it’s the first timer sharing techniques from other trades or just asking questions to jar us out of how it’s always been done. That and the aloha and knowledge that’s there for all of us to share.

I for one, don’t appreciate when the manners are set aside, or people make it personal. It’s like getting around rude teenaged boys, although somehow worse, as it was typed, reread and sent…not just uttered in the moment.

I would hope to see post’s where discretion is used when the urge to flame someone rears its head…that and archive research before asking questions. I don’t wish to see anymore longtime elders taking leave, as they tire from sifting through the chaff.

Ok, Guinness inspired rant over,… but I’ve been feeling it for sometime. I am off to have enjoyable sex at a speed appropriate to the current conditions. Gil

Oh, and Paul, I do like your work, thanks for sharing.

how bout we change it up and call"all the way to the end if the wave "

this may be a nuance to this slow…

fast as manic quest for speed as opposed to slow motion attention to detail …exactatude.

lest we be distracted from the fact that sex, as well as surfing has a predetermind classy goal, one to reproduce,

the other to make waves all the way to the fine sand beach

…ambrose…''pae i ke nalu" if i remember correctly

[got it from the hawaiian dictionary 30 years go and wrote it on the stringer of a memorable board}

Surfing is better than sex in several ways: it’s safer, far less complicated, more consistent, and you can do it more frequently, over and over and over and over again, all day long (unless you have a tendency to boast).

unless you are riding a near close out or have to escape a death pit you have enough speed especailly while surfing, why do you think it’s so much easier to get barreled on a bodyboard(just getting into a stanup barrel) they don’t do as fast and just slide right in. it’s not so much speed as control.
